Technical Information

Q: What is a Bolus?

Bolus means the amount or dose of oxygen delivered to a patient which is triggered by the breath rate of the patient, when using an oxygen concentrator operating in pulse mode. Bolus is used interchangeably with Pulse.

Q: What is Rate Responsive Technology?

Using advanced technology Zen-O lite increases the amount of oxygen delivered as the patient’s breath rate increases up to 1050ml per minute. For example if the patient exerts himself by walking faster than normal, Zen-O lite will maintain a constant bolus and keep up with the patient’s breath rate (up to 40 breaths per minute). RRT helps keep patients saturated.

Q: What settings do we have on Zen-O lite?

Zen-O lite has 9 pulse settings 1 – 5 (with 0.5 increments).

Q: Are the settings in Pulse and Continuous modes the same?

No, a setting in Pulse mode does not equate to the same value in Continuous mode, for example setting 2 in Pulse mode is not the same as 2lpm in continuous mode. Patients must have a setting determined for them by a healthcare professional following an assessment.

Q: How does a patient determine the correct setting on Zen-O lite?

The correct setting on Zen-O lite for a patient must be determined by a healthcare professional following an oxygen assessment. The assessment will enable the healthcare professionals determine the best setting required to meet the oxygen needs of the patient.

Q: Who is Zen-O lite designed for? Can anyone buy Zen-O lite?

In some countries like in the United States Zen-O can only be sold on the prescription of a clinician, this is to ensure that the device meets the oxygen requirements of the patient.
